The idea is to first look at health, character, build and then color! Each breeder has their own vision and their own ideal dog in mind that they want to breed to!
We would like to work towards social dogs with a good will to please that do well in the dog sport: sheep herding, flyball, agility, frisbee you name it! Puppies only go to people who really want to do something with their dog...
We only breed with tested parents, so they are tested for several DNA diseases, namely Cea, Tns, Mrd1 and Igs and more. The hips (HD), shoulders (SD) elbows (ED) and back are also officially tested and assessed. Before each litter, the eyes of the bitches are also checked for cataract and glaucoma (ECVO).
Breeding with a pedigree means that there is a mainly closed gene pool. It is therefore important that these genes are handled with care. We choose not to exclude carriers (for example from CEA) from breeding, but to use them consciously. Carriers will therefore only be combined with dogs that are free, so that no sick pups can be born. This means that the puppies born will not develop this disease.
At Syrah's Faith, color is not a priority. We look for a combination based on character, health, work ethic and construction. Under each combination you will find the expected colors from the nest. Given the dogs that my kennel currently has, I expect mainly black/white, brown/white and tricolor.
